Dell brings festive cheer to orphanages this past festive season

Over December the Dell South Africa team and our Powering the Possible partner, Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, took part in a Festive Cheer Challenge which enabled staff to make contact with orphaned and vulnerable children in need.

Over 200 boxes containing wish-lists from children at different orphanages in the Johannesburg area were made available for staff members to choose from. They were then given the wonderful opportunity of fulfilling the wishes of these children by packing the boxes with  toothpaste, tooth brushes, soaps and wash cloths, as well as educational supplies, toys and clothing items. Sci Bono Discovery Centre, as part of their ‘paying it forward’ initiative threw a party for all of these children; keeping  them entertained with fun activities such as face-painting, interactive science exhibit and demonstrations, team building activities, visual art and video games.

The children also showed off their creativity by using the Dell equipment and Photoshop to create Christmas cards for each of their caregivers.

“What a humbling experience it was to witness the Dell South Africa family come together to play a part in lifting the hopes and aspirations of those less fortunate over this festive season. I’d like to extend a special thanks to Sci- Bono for their continuous commitment in ensuring that their neighboring communities are well served”, comments Natasha Reuben, Head of Transformation at Dell.

Sci Bono is a world class interactive science museum offering science and technology programmes for children and adults of all ages.
