A new era for ICT: Dell launches an academy in partnership with the DTI and CHPC

On 10 April 2015, Dell South Africa officially announced the launch of a training academy in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Centre for High Performance Computing (CHPC).

The training academy, which has been named Khulisa and means “nurturing” in isiZulu, aims to teach students high performance computing skills which are lacking in South Africa. The program will be a two year learnership directed at disadvantaged students who have recently graduated as well as students who have recently completed their high school education. In additional to providing the students with academic proficiencies Dell will also act as a mentor by providing leadership and ensuring that each of the candidates develops into a holistic, socially aware individual who reaches their fullest potential.

By giving the candidates an opportunity to solve unique and complex business issues, the academy has the potential to make a real difference in South Africa as it addresses an area that can have a significant impact on the economy, and on the lives of many South Africans.
