As part of our commitment towards making Dell a Great Place

to Work, each member of the South African team receives

a monthly spoiler. These spoilers include frozen yoghurt to

celebrate summer, a warm cup of soup during winter and a

“Grow your Own Tree” pack for World Environment Day.

In addition, and in honour of National Women’s Day, the ladies

at Dell South Africa were treated to tea and cake, as well as a

hand-crafted gift which was made by a team of women who

have made it their mission to uplift their communities from its

surrounding poverty and hopelessness to a sense of renewed

hope and pride. Suffice it to say that Dell South Africa is proud

to be associated with such an uplifting and community-

              focused initiative.

Socio-Economic Development (SED) is the mechanism

we use to give back to the societies in which we operate

and live. The main objective of our initiatives is to provide

previously disadvantaged individuals with the means of

becoming economically active, focusing on initiatives aimed at

establishing support and upliftment in order to create:

technology skills. By providing the latest

              technology and financial support Dell

is helping young people discover new

possibilities, change their lives and unleash

their true potential. Through our various

SED initiatives, as well as our Dell Powering

the Possible program, we hope to assist

              organisations on the pathway towards

improving and sustaining the lives of the

              communities they serve.

              • Healthy communities: Basic needs of people, e.g. nutrition

and healthcare (focus on children and the disabled).

              • Literate communities: Quality education, particularly in

              mathematics, science and basic literacy.

              • Connected communities: Access to technology and

web-based communities for areas with limited access to

              technology.

Thanks to our commitment towards improving social

conditions within South Africa, Dell has exceeded our

requirement for expenditure on SED for the past six years.
