Dell SA Gets into the Spirit of Giving

              for Focus Fortnight

As part of Focus Fortnight, a two week drive to engage

employees with opportunities to “Make a Difference” in their

communities, the Dell South Africa team hosted a Food

Parcel Packing campaign. Each team was given items of

non-perishable food to be packaged into boxes containing

cellophane, ribbon and face paint markers.

The teams were encouraged not only to package, wrap and

decorate their food boxes, but also create a team war cry

encompassing the reasons why volunteering is so important.

The result was 250 hours of volunteering fun in a single day,

some very creative war cries and more than 30 Food Parcels

which were donated to CHOC and Child Welfare, two of our

              Strategic Giving Partners.

The staff and students at Sci-Bono Discovery Centre, one of

Dell’s Strategic Giving Partners, were pleased to host Dough

Schmitt, VP: Global Support & Deployment, during his visit

to South Africa in September 2012. After a tour of the centre,

Doug met up with 20 students participating in the Sci-Bono

Youth Development Program, currently completing an

accredited ICT essentials course which prepares them for a

career as an entry level PC technician. He spent time chatting

to the students about global trends in IT and provided them

with a motivational speech that left both students and staff

              truly inspired.
