Dell Investment: Funds for Community
Events
For the past six years, Dell has invested in Kanya Trading, a
black female-owned organisation specialising in events that
benefit the communities in the Western Cape. Each year these
events coincide with the National and Provincial Governments’
calendar of events, which then allows Dell to work in partner-
ship with these governments on worthwhile causes. It also
gives our staff a vehicle to make a positive and physical differ-
ence in the lives of communities through their participation in
these events.
The calendar of events for 2012 included:
• World Environmental Day - 5 June 2012
• International Cancer Awareness Week – 1-8 August 2012
• National Women’s Day – 9 August 2012
• National Youth Day – 16 June 2012
• International Day of Older Persons – 1 October 2012
• International Human Rights Day - 28 November 2012
Beneficiary: CSIR
Dell Investment: Nine Laptops
The CSIR is one of the leading science and technology
research, development and implementation organisations in
Africa, transferring the knowledge generated through research
activities by means of technology and human skills. Against
this background, Dell was delighted to donate nine laptops
to the winners of the annual CSIR Science and Technology
Competition - an initiative which was extended to local high
school learners (grade 10-12) with the aim of motivating them
to consider science, engineering and technology (SET) careers.
